In Our Spotlight for
November

Over the summer, I had the privilege of receiving the Nijewel Holliday Memorial Scholarship. Nijewel dreamed of becoming an optometrist who could inspire young Black boys and girls—showing them that with dedication and effort, they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Tragically, during his second year of optometry school, Nijewel passed away due to health complications. I had the honor of meeting his family and connecting with other aspiring Black optometrists as we came together to celebrate his legacy and continue carrying forward his vision.
